Baxter

Pretty and elegant wines from Mendocino and The Baxters. Phil Baxter minimally intervenes in his wines and farms organically in every vineyard he works with. He hasn't used a new barrel in over 10 years!!! Phil spent a couple of vintages in Burgundy and learned ‘French Cellar’ methods and techniques to best showcase ‘terroir’.

This time included periods at Domaine de la Vougeraie in Premeaux where wine was produced from thirty- three different vineyards from Musigny and Bonne Mares to premier cru and village wines. Thanks to his French language skills Phil was chosen to oversee the cellar activities at Domaine Raymond Launay in Pommard.

There he contributed to many Pommard wines as well as several grand crus. "Burgundian" gets tossed around a lot, but Baxter’s wines show more restraint and focus than most domestic producers out there.
